Who We Are

Three black cattle stand in a grassy field with gentle rolling hills and scattered trees in the background. The animals have tags on their ears and are surrounded by tall grass. A metal fence is visible in the foreground, suggesting a pastoral farm setting.

When We Started

It all began in 2020, when Mike bought three calves for his grandfather, keeping a promise to “see some cows running around out there again.” What started as a small act of love grew into a mission—to raise animals ethically, restore the land, and create something lasting for his family and community.

Where We Are

The farm sits in an unincorporated corner of Franklin, Reeltown, and Tallassee, Alabama—a quiet stretch of land where rolling hills, sandy soil, and natural springs meet. What used to be scrub timber is now being restored into rich, living pasture where cattle and hogs roam freely, working with the land instead of against it.

How We Are

Today, Black Market Cattle Company raises cattle and hogs on open pasture, using regenerative methods that build soil health, improve biodiversity, and honor the natural cycles of life. Every choice—from feed to fencing—is made with purpose and integrity.

The rebellious spirit is still there, but now it’s guided by faith. The goal isn’t just to produce better meat—it’s to build a legacy of stewardship, family, and truth.

“These days, it’s about serving Christ, honoring my family, and providing the best product I can for my community.”
