Funded by systemic theft (taxation), governments in general, and specifically the United States government, have inflicted more suffering, torture, enslavement, and death on the world’s poorest people than every other entity in recorded history combined.
If you understand this and still defend taxation as a humanitarian benefit, you’re either a shill, hypocrite, fool, or a combination of the three.
There are reasonable arguments for the efficiency (not morality) of taxation. They’re all easy to dismantle, but they can at least be made from an adult perspective. This one cannot.
This is why I know charity comes from the heart and not the government. It’s why I made the T-shirt.
If someone forces you at gunpoint to give them your money, you’re practicing self-preservation, not charity. And if they then take a portion of that money to give to those in need, a larger portion to torture and kill other people, and an even larger portion to expand their machine, you can’t claim to have “done your share” unless you mean your share of expanding violence and terror in the world.
I believe a person who can help others should. I believe they should do so without strings, judgment, or applause.
I also believe in the sovereignty of the individual and know that in a voluntary society, people who want to help would have more means to do so because the state mafia would not be stealing any of it, AND they could direct it where they needed it to go. For instance, if they wanted to feed the hungry in one location, they could do so without also contributing to blowing them up or caging them in another location.
Peace is prosperity, and good ideas don’t require force.
